Memory and History

DIFFERENCES
History is the fact that something happened in the past that has been proof that it is truth and memory  is act of remembering things so it is constantly changing because as we learn new things others that weren’t so important let’s say erase from your mind
MEMORY AFFECTING HISTORY

Memory is affected by emotions and values which leads adaptations that us or a certain community gives to an event that cannot necessarily be the whole truth based on the opinions or beliefs of that specific person or group. Ex: if you fall down the stairs of your house that will be history because it happened but if somebody let’s say your mother observes it and says that it was funny that would be memory because that’s how she remembers it and in the other hand you could remember it as a painful experience

Memory vs. History

Memory is the ability of retaining information, which leds to something informal, it means it's not written, while history is a formal record of a what has happened during life.

As history is mostly shaped by oral tradition, it is influenced by memory because most of the stories told, were related by those who weren't alive at the moment of speaking, which means that most of the things that happened were forgotten, some were remembered and others were invented because it's almost imposible that everyone remembered everything of the memoirs, therefor history is always shaped by remembrance.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN MEMORY AND HISTORY?

To me, basically memory refers to the ability that our brain has to remember events and facts that we have gone through, and thanks to our capacity to imagine those memories, we can make use of it. In the other hand, history is all the actual facts and events that we went and have gone through, so I think that the main difference between both of this terms is that memory is the way that we see, retain and remember our history.

HOW DOES MEMORY AFFECT HISTORY?

To us, yes. Memory affects history as we lived it at first throughout time, and it changes the way we see the event in a way that maybe two or three years after something happend, we remember it completely different.

Memory and History

Memory and History: What is the difference?

History is the version of events accepted as real by a specific part of society. It is usually found in textbooks from which students learn and is studied by historian. Memory on the other hand, is what some people remember that happened in such events but is not accepted as reality by the society.

Memory depends on history because it is a way to tell the sucesion of events that happened around one topic or special event. History depends on memory because it is the main source of information to create a concrete theory of what happened. Broadly  hisortory and memory both depend on one another and alter the way things happened in our past, which means they are both important in order to register everyhing that happens and help us understand our mistakes to avoid them in our future.

Memory is define as the process in which information is encoged, stored, and retrieved. This is not the same as history because this last one, is the study of the past and tríes to explain how and why the world is as how we know it. The memory is what a person thinks what happened. It is the person version of a certain event. The history is endorsed by historical documents and data.

Difference between history and memory

Although these are very related terms, there's certain differnces between them.

History is combination of interpretations of facts that took place in the past; many of them can be proved through documents. Many times what we are told about something that happened and there are some differences between what we are told and what really happened. History is a union of investigations, relatively true, with the experience and point of view of the person that tells us the "details" of a past events.

Memory is a more personal opinion of what we remember that happened. Memory talks through the experience achieved during actions that happened in the past and the narrator witnessed. Uses logical appeal during tha communication process to try to prove his living. No one can manipulate our memories because we will always new the truth that sometimes is hidden in history.

In my personal opinion a memory is the remember of our living or someone else's living that takes place in history; meanwhile history is may be manipulated and we need a secondary source to get to know it. Its veracity is not always clearly shown.

In my opinion, memory is what we remember that happened, a more personal experience and history the information given by the society and most likely told differently by the winner or loser.

HOW DOES MEMORY SHAPE HISTORY?

Memory shapes history by giving facts that we remember that happened and what people felt ( fear, joy, resentment, etc). The only thing that can affect in a bad way memory to history is that we only remember what we want to.

History is a representation of the past, and is used to analyzed ,  learned from it and identify patterns while memory, has the same use but is more personal , and it helps to build our identity

Because history is based in past events, and these events at some point are memories of a person, which help us to try to understand the history and build it, history is compilation of those memories, that's why it exist primary sources( the people who were living when the event past ) and second sources (what the people told you)

Questions

What is the difference between memory and history?
The memory is based on the history, which means it can cease in the moment we decide to forget the past events. Meanwhile the history is based in past actions that can not evolve into something new, but neither can be denied.

How does memory shape history?
Memory is a perception of recalling past events, which can be called history. We would not be able to know history without memory, because it is the only way of bringing back certain events. This process can be affected by the own judgement of the person that is using his/her memory.
