Today I´m writing to show my opinion on two different author´s opinion on A Clockwork Orange.

The first essay basically talked about the exaggeration of violence in Stanley Kubrick´s movie, and the “bad” employment of classical music to make a tense environment. In the author´s opinion, the classical music is not well used, since it should be used to soft the scenes, and not roughen them up. We see that this happens in a lot of different scenes inside the movie, but in my own opinion, I think that the employment of this music to emphasize violence inside different scenes creates a unique feeling, and I don´t think that´s bad.

When we read the second article, we see that the author compares both, the movie and the book. He writes about how the narration inside the story occurs, basically that in the movie the story is told to us by Alex, while in the book we are Alex. Then he also talks about the impact of the nadsat in the book, and he really criticizes it by saying that Burgess destroys English language, and he also mentions the usage of classical music in the movie. As well as those points, he also talks about the differences between the endings. This author basically gives us a comparison of both and criticizes them in a way that I really don´t get.

I quite don´t understand why both authors are so conflicted with things that made the story significantly better and interesting (for me), and I think that such amazing works cannot be criticized just because of the employment of something that the director or the author gave us so that we could introduce ourselves in the story way better. I also feel that comparing the book with the movie has not a lot of sense, since the movie is only the way someone decided to represent the book, but it could be represented in many other ways. Even though, I also think that the methods used by both, Burgess and Kubrick, to express themselves are not usual and quite disturbing. I liked the fact that both of the essays really inspired me to think about this tools and aspects of each work, and I looking forward to identify them better and try to judge them by myself.
