Weekly Entry: 25-29 April

The Best Coach Ever 

Tec Balam Esmeralda has always had good mentors and coaches which are either teachers,former members or people interested in our project. Nevertheless this season we have had some issues with our school and most of them left the team temporally because of this, time and work problems. Fortunately we still have one coach and we can say he is the best one we could have wished for in our current situation.

 His name is Luis Valencia he is studying Engineering in Digital Systems and Robotics in ITESM CEM at the moment and is a former member of Tec Balam as well. To us, he has been our hero since has brought up the team in our hardest moments and when we thought we wouldn’t be able to continue because of our lack of mentors, it’s been more than once that he has saved us and has been helping us in our way through the competition. He may not have as much academic background due to his age as many other mentors from other teams, but he has learned by experience more than many people have learned in books and he is always learning new things to teach us or looking for people who may help us in whatever he might not have much experience.

Being proactive is one of his main teachings and we have learned from his love to technology and his work as our coach. Luis inspires us to keep going on even if we feel like giving up because he is a great example of persistence and hard work. It is surprising the way in which he is compromised with the team and how he is always able to find time for us besides studying in university and having much more work than us. He is a real role model for us because he is able to carry with the responsibility of leading a team all on his own and he is a real leader who we can always look up to and count on.

 We are thankful very much that he is not the kind of person who does things for the team, and instead he shows us how to do them. At the same time he never imposes ideas; he always listens to our opinions, takes them into account and encourages us to think for alternatives that work in every single way. 

Team work is not always easy but Luis helps us find our own way to work efficiently in harmony and he is one of the, main reasons that we are such a united team which comes together in the best and the worst times helping each other as a family. We have no words to describe how grateful we are with Luis for all his work and commitment with us, without him we would not be the great team we are today and continue enjoying the pleasure of working with technology and learning from it.
