Last chapter of the man in the
high castle
It seems today is going to rain. I consulted the I Ching yesterday and
it gave me hexagram 55 about prosperity and hexagram 62 about little success. That’s
why I am a little bit disappointed, Joe was so excited about his birthday party
last year when an the rain that unpleasant guest came and we were force to move
the party inside the house he was so mad because he couldn’t play baseball with
his friends that if I didn’t stopped him me would have cancelled the party. But
let’s hope this year is different and the oracle is right.
Juliana was so determined to give his son a great birthday party that
she that she would have deliver herself to the Nazi P. D. she couldn’t make up
her mind on what to wear for the party so she decided to consult the I Ching
and the answer was hexagram 42 about soul so she decided to use the old blue
dress she bought with Joe 9 years ago when she finished trying the dress on she
turned her attention to her jewelry box the difference was she already knew
what to combine with dress it was that old neckless Frank send her, even though
she didn’t accept to work with him she could not deny she loved that neckless
very much. It was on that particular moment when she realized she had not been
so excited since the day she met Abdensen.
She left the room and went to the
kitchen when she noticed she was not alone little Joe was awake and staring at her
so the only thing Juliana could figure out to say was ”Happy Birthday my
darling” she hug him and asked “ What are you doing woken up so early?” Joe
answered “ I set up an alarm clock by 4 I don’t want to waste any single second
of my birthday doing unnecessary things like sleep I have already taken
breakfast” Juliana replied “But my love
you know that if you don’t sleep you won’t have enough energy to play in your
party didn’t you told me you wanted to play like Ty Cobb in his early years?
Besides its 6 am in the morning go get some sleep and I will get the last
things for the party. “OK mom but tell me did you bought me that Ty Cobb
autographed ball that is in Mr. Coleman antique store? Joe said and his mother
replied “ Mmmm.. I don’t know I guess you will find out these afternoon now go
to sleep” Joe was so happy he could not hide that big smile off his face when
he was going to his room.
She was driving in her old Suzuki 500 watching the street when she
noticed something was not right in Mr. Keisuke’s newspaper stand so she decided
to stop and saw it with her own eyes the Reich Time’s front page said the
bluffer is dead and a picture of Hawthorne Abdensen mutilated. Her first
thought was poor old man I told him to be more careful and move to a place with
more security but he didn’t listen to my that’s when I stopped feeling pitty
and I felt dizzy because now I was the only one who knows the truth so I don’t understand
why but I just started to run and that was the only think I wanted to run I left
my car, my purse, everything I mean I didn’t even say hello to Mr Keisuke because I thought for a second
that running was the best way to avoid trouble the trouble of being the only one who knows the truth and
the enormous weight it involves because I know that I have to spread the truth,
so I decided to return to more serious matters like the party but since I am
just a few blocks away closer to Coleman’s store than to my car so I decided to
go to Coleman’s first.
By the time Juliana was arriving to the store Jack Coleman was just sealing
a new deal with Her Himmler it is well known that they do a lot of business
since Himmler is an sports lover but specially a racing fan and Coleman seems
to know a lot of that that morning they were having this particular
conversation about who was better Schumacher driving a powerful Italian Ferrari
or David Pearson in his Corvette. So I waited on the chairs left in the right
corner of the store.
15 minutes later I was in front of the desk of Coleman and ask him: “Do
you still have the ball?” “Yes I do but answer me these all my customers think
Ty Cobb was a good player but they never buy it because he was an awful human
being why would your son like something off such a person.” Coleman asked “He
might have been the worst human in this planet but why is he famous, he is famous
because he was an authentic really good baseball legend. If he had not played
ball no one would know he even existed. These are why my kid loves him because
he was an awesome ball player.”
Mr Coleman didn’t asked anything else he asked for his money then gave a
receipt for Juliana and return to mis clients who started to gather around the
store.
