A dollar
since I can talk about anything I want to, I chose to go for an unusual topic. I won't give you my unpopular opinion on abortion or religion, I will simply try to make you understand the power of a dollar, one single dollar. one single dollar seems like an insignificant sum of money, but there are so many things a person can buy with one lone dollar. like what? how is one dollar gonna make the difference in a world like this? let me tell you it makes a difference.
you can by the 0.002500062501562539% of an island called "chandler island". you can buy the 4.347826086956522e-10% of Microsoft. that one dollar cannot only buy that but only save a life, you see you can also buy one third of a Big Mac for a starving homeless person. One dollar can make a difference in your life. that one dollar could be the one that finally could sum up your total savings to buy the ring you wanted for that special girl, or the shoes your kid wanted so badly. It can also be that one that helped you pay off your mortgage. it seems worthless, until you realize it isn't, here is why: that dollar has more history and more power than any human does.
the first dollar was made and used in 1789, had several designs and changes and finally ended up looking like the dollar you and I use, that design was created in 1929. so the oldest dollar still in circulation is at least 87 years old, that one dollar has been in more places than you have and has touched more humans that you might ever touch. it most likely has been through more banks that you'll ever be in, and has helped more people than you could even dream of. that dollar has more history impregnated in its paper than you'll ever have inside your memory, and that one dollar has more power than anyone, because that dollar was the one that changed world's history forever.
years ago if you asked your mother for money, she would give you a buck, two if she was feeling generous. that was enough, capitalism had not yet turned youth into a huge consumers market, like now. that dollar years ago was the joy of a child, or the entire meal of a mother and her kids, that dollar was enough. although the world is different, things are more expensive and a dollar seems like worthless just remember this, that one dollar may at some point in your life be the closure you had been looking for, but it can also be the beginning of a great story.
Great job! There are elements of sarcasm and playfulness in your writing style which makes your writing fun to read. Your fist two paragraphs are very well done. I have to admit though, that I was not expecting the turn your essay took in the 3rd paragraph. Personally, I think that paragraph is a little out of place with the rest of it. You need to work on your sentence structure. It would be great to see more of your writing.
